Roles & Responsibilities
- Take and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure and oxygen saturation, to ensure safety during oral surgery procedures
- Assist the oral surgeon with nitrous oxide and IV sedation, monitoring patients throughout their procedure
- Capture high-quality panoramic X-rays to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Prepare the operatory for wisdom tooth surgery and anticipate the surgeon's needs for a smooth workflow
- Provide compassionate, clear communication to patients before, during, and after their procedure
- Maintain a sterile, organized environment and follow infection control protocols
- Educate patients on post-operative care instructions for optimal recovery
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent state certification
- Hands-on experience taking vital signs
- Experience with nitrous oxide and IV sedation
- Proficiency in taking panoramic X-rays
- Experience assisting with wisdom tooth surgery
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology and oral surgery procedures
- Skilled in monitoring vital signs and recognizing changes in patient status
- Proficient with panoramic X-ray equipment and imaging techniques
- Understanding of nitrous oxide and IV sedation protocols
- Attention to detail and commitment to infection control standards
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with patients and the surgical team
