Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments with warmth and professionalism
• Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions and coordinate timely referrals when needed
• Prescribe corrective lenses, therapeutic treatments, and contact lens fittings tailored to each patient
• Document patient encounters accurately in the medical record and maintain clear continuity of care
• Collaborate with facility clinical staff to support overall patient health and treatment plans
• Provide patient education on eye health, preventive care, and treatment adherence
• Adhere to clinic policies, infection control procedures, and state practice regulations

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree or equivalent
• Active California optometry license or eligibility to obtain state licensure prior to start
• Comfortable performing comprehensive exams, refraction, and contact lens fittings
• Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills — you make patients feel heard
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Prior clinical experience in an outpatient or institutional setting is a plus

Education

• Doctor of Optometry (OD)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of ocular disease and refractive care
• Skilled in refraction and prescribing corrective lenses
• Experience with contact lens evaluation and fitting
• Proficient with electronic medical records and accurate charting
• Good diagnostic skills and the ability to triage ocular complaints
• Team-player mindset with clear communication and patient education abilities
