Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate, plan, direct and administer Occupational Therapy treatment modalities as prescribed by a licensed physician
• Deliver all aspects of patient care in an environment that maximizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical or health care errors
• Provide skilled Occupational Therapy evaluations and treatments for patients in an outpatient rehabilitation setting
• Treat common ambulatory clinic pathologies of the upper quadrant, including degenerative conditions, neurologic impairments, general orthopedics, and post-operative care
• Apply manual therapy, neuro-rehab techniques, exercise modalities, and functional activities to help patients reach maximum function
• Administer treatments and occupational agents aimed at restoring function and preventing disability following injury, disease, or physical disability
• Assist patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities
• Observe and evaluate treatment effect, recommending changes to the physician when needed
• Perform appropriate evaluations and reassessments for pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations per policy
• Assess patient pain that interferes with function or rehabilitation participation and contact the physician for appropriate intervention
• Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate the effectiveness of learning, including family in teaching as appropriate
• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity while identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs
• Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly while maintaining department cleanliness and safety
• Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of the plan of care
• Communicate clearly and appropriately with physicians, staff, and the administrative team
• Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure needs are met and hospital policy is followed
• Consult other departments to collaborate on patient care and performance improvement activities
• Direct Occupational Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides and Mobility Technicians, certification applicants, and OT or OTA students
• Maintain records pertinent to department personnel and operations
• Meet current clinical documentation standards and policies
• Assist with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members
• Participate in guidance and educational programs to keep your practice sharp
• Ensure patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis

Qualifications

• BLS Certification, required and we will help you keep it current
• Licensed Occupational Therapist with New Hampshire eligibility, required
• Graduate from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy or equivalent, required
• Experience providing Occupational Therapy in an outpatient setting is strongly preferred, so bring those wins with you
• Comfort treating pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations
• Familiarity with best practice and the latest evidence for common ambulatory clinic pathologies
• A team player who communicates well with physicians, staff, and families

Education

• Licensed Occupational Therapist with NH eligibility. - Required.
• Graduate from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy or equivalent. - Required.
• Experience in providing Occupational Therapy within the outpatient setting. - Strongly Preferred.
