Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of microbiological tests including plate reading and culture interpretation to aid in patient diagnosis
• Operate and maintain advanced lab equipment like the Thermo Fisher Quant Studio 5, King Fisher, and Applied Biosystems systems
• Execute precise manual pipetting and Open Platform PCR techniques with accuracy
• Collaborate with the lab team to ensure timely and accurate test results
• Follow strict quality control and safety protocols to uphold laboratory standards
• Document results in MEDITECH and communicate findings to healthcare providers

Qualifications

• ASCP or AMT certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical microbiology lab, with strong plate reading skills
• Hands-on experience with MEDITECH and the specific lab equipment listed (Thermo Fisher Quant Studio 5, King Fisher, Applied Biosystems)
• Ability to float between Bryan and College Station campuses as needed
• Willingness to work a 7 on/7 off schedule with flexible shift times
• Must not have been directly employed by a CommonSpirit facility within the past year

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in microbiology and plate reading
• Proficient in manual pipetting and Open Platform PCR techniques
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems like MEDITECH
• Strong attention to detail and aseptic technique
• Knowledge of laboratory safety and quality assurance protocols
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
