Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Waldorf, MD
Start Date: 08-17-2026
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Day shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (30-minute meal break)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, personalized care to geriatric residents, helping them maintain dignity and quality of life.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
- Support safe mobility and transfers, following each resident's care plan.
- Monitor residents' health and well-being, reporting changes to the nursing team.
- Engage residents in social and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional wellness.
- Maintain a tidy, safe, and comforting environment for residents.
- Document care provided accurately and communicate effectively with the care team.
Qualifications
- Active Maryland Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification.
- Current CPR/BLS certification as required by the facility.
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable with a passion for elder care.
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate effectively with residents and staff.
- Must present a state or federal issued ID and wear a photo badge at all times while on duty.
- Must have completed COVID-19 vaccination series or provide a documented religious/medical exemption.
- Ability to pass background and drug screenings as required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of geriatric care principles and resident rights.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Safe body mechanics and transfer techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively with nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation and observation.
