Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming with dignity and respect
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes promptly to nursing staff
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
• Help keep resident rooms and care areas clean, organized, and comfortable
• Follow infection control protocols to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working night shift hours and adapting to per-diem schedules
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on caregiving skills for older adults, including safe transfer techniques
• Ability to observe, document, and communicate changes in resident condition
• Basic infection control and standard precautions knowledge
• Familiarity with electronic or paper charting for care documentation
• Compassionate bedside manner and patience with memory-impaired residents
• Time management skills to balance care tasks during night shift
