Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead all nursing services to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate resident care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized resident care plans in collaboration with the care team
- Monitor resident outcomes and drive quality improvement initiatives through QAPI processes
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate care
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing staff while fostering a positive work environment
- Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and local regulations and lead preparation for surveys and inspections
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, infection control measures, and risk management programs
- Provide hands-on leadership, mentor staff, and conduct competency evaluations to elevate clinical practice
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required (must be active at time of submission; verified via Nursys)
- Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) highly preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Prior experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing required
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of nursing experience required
- Infection Preventionist Certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire (CMS program available)
- Experience with Matrix EMR highly preferred
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - highly preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong nursing leadership and staff supervision skills with a servant leadership mindset
- Thorough knowledge of long-term care regulations (CMS and state) and survey readiness
- Experience in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) methodologies
- Infection control and prevention best practices
- Resident assessment, care planning, and outcome evaluation
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and lead a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with Matrix EMR and other long-term care documentation systems (preferred)
