Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Take and document vital signs accurately and report any changes to the nursing team
- Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Maintain a clean, comfortable environment for residents and adhere to infection control practices
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families and the interdisciplinary care team
- Document care thoroughly and promptly to ensure continuity and quality of care
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification in New York State (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain)
- Reliable immunization and TB screening records per facility policy
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a patient-centered approach
- Prior experience in long-term care or related settings preferred but new grads welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and active NY certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of basic nursing care and infection prevention
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and use of mobility equipment
- Solid patient observation skills and ability to notice/report changes
- Comfortable with electronic or paper documentation systems
- Compassionate bedside manner and de-escalation skills when needed
