Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert pediatric critical care for patients from birth through 17 years
• Manage neurology post-operative patients with calm, clinical precision
• Perform IV placement and lab draws safely and confidently
• Chart patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition according to unit protocols
• Support unit staffing needs by floating to other areas as required
• Participate in weekend rotations and contribute to continuity of care

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
• PICU experience is mandatory; neurology post-op care experience preferred
• BCLS (BLS) and PALS certifications required
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Travel experience accepted; first-time travelers with 2 years experience may be accepted
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend, and float as needed
• Flu vaccine required per facility policy (medical/religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care principles and bedside assessment
• Neurology post-op monitoring and care
• IV placement, securement, and peripheral access troubleshooting
• Phlebotomy and timely lab draw workflow
• Familiarity with Epic electronic charting system
• Comfort with heme/onc, respiratory, and general pediatric surgical diagnoses
• Strong communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to manage acuity-based ratios (typical 1:2; sometimes 1:3)
