Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and ensure perioperative equipment is inspected, sterilized and ready for each case
• Scrub and assist surgeons during a variety of procedures including neuro, spine, total joint, gastric sleeve and general surgery
• Maintain surgical counts, pass instruments and anticipate surgical team needs to keep cases running safely and efficiently
• Document intraoperative activity in the EMR (Meditech) and support accurate patient records
• Collaborate with RN and tech colleagues to support patient safety, sterile technique and smooth turnover between cases
• Participate in on-call rotation and be ready to step in when the team needs you

Qualifications

• Completion of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Surgical Technologist program (required)
• NBSTSA certification and/or successful passage of the CST exam (required/preferred as noted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of OR or perioperative surgical tech experience preferred
• Experience with perioperative equipment and familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred
• Team player with flexibility to work rotating shifts and participate in call rotation

Education

• CAAHEP or ABHES program completion in Surgical Technology

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven perioperative skills and sterile technique
• Comfortable with a wide range of procedures: neuro, spine, total joint, bariatric, ENT, pediatric and urology
• Instrument identification, counts and passing technique
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced OR environment
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR systems
• Ability to adapt to unit policies and onsite orientation processes
