Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled PTA services to residents in a skilled nursing facility, focusing on mobility, strength, and functional independence
• Collaborate with PTs, nursing staff, and the care team to create and carry out individualized treatment plans
• Document patient progress, modify treatments as needed, and communicate outcomes clearly
• Assist with safe transfers, gait training, and therapeutic exercise to improve resident quality of life
• Educate residents and families on home programs and fall prevention strategies
• Contribute to a positive, resident-centered environment by demonstrating professionalism and empathy

Qualifications

• Active PTA license in North Carolina or ability to obtain state licensure prior to assignment
• BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Comfort working in a skilled nursing facility setting; new grads are welcome and encouraged to apply
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Pass background check and any facility-required screenings or immunizations

Education

• Graduate of an accredited PTA program (typically an Associate degree) or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of therapeutic exercise, gait training, and transfer techniques
• Familiarity with documentation standards in SNF/long-term care settings
• Ability to follow PT plans of care and adapt interventions based on patient response
• Good clinical judgment, time management, and patient education skills
• Comfort using basic modalities and adaptive equipment commonly used in rehabilitation
