Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled PTA services to residents in a skilled nursing facility, focusing on mobility, strength, and functional independence
- Collaborate with PTs, nursing staff, and the care team to create and carry out individualized treatment plans
- Document patient progress, modify treatments as needed, and communicate outcomes clearly
- Assist with safe transfers, gait training, and therapeutic exercise to improve resident quality of life
- Educate residents and families on home programs and fall prevention strategies
- Contribute to a positive, resident-centered environment by demonstrating professionalism and empathy
Qualifications
- Active PTA license in North Carolina or ability to obtain state licensure prior to assignment
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Comfort working in a skilled nursing facility setting; new grads are welcome and encouraged to apply
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Pass background check and any facility-required screenings or immunizations
Education
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program (typically an Associate degree) or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Foundational knowledge of therapeutic exercise, gait training, and transfer techniques
- Familiarity with documentation standards in SNF/long-term care settings
- Ability to follow PT plans of care and adapt interventions based on patient response
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and patient education skills
- Comfort using basic modalities and adaptive equipment commonly used in rehabilitation
