Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high quality post-operative nursing care for surgical patients, focusing on safety and recovery
• Perform wound care including dressing changes, packing, and wound vac maintenance
• Manage Foley catheters, continuous bladder irrigation, and ostomy appliance care
• Administer TPN and blood products safely following hospital protocols
• Care for central lines including dressing changes and infection prevention
• Insert and manage nasogastric tubes and provide suctioning as needed
• Participate in bedside shift report and maintain clear, timely documentation in Meditech
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to prioritize patient needs and ensure smooth transitions of care

Qualifications

• Current RN license for Tennessee (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Experience in post-op surgical care or medical-surgical units preferred
• Strong time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced unit
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills; outgoing, customer-service oriented approach
• Ability to follow unit guidelines for professional appearance and prompt attendance

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Meditech EMR experience or ability to learn Meditech quickly
• Wound care and wound vac maintenance
• TPN administration and monitoring
• Blood product administration and documentation
• Central line care and sterile dressing changes
• Foley catheter management and continuous bladder irrigation
• Ostomy care and appliance changes
• Nasogastric tube insertion and suctioning
• Comfort with bariatric equipment, lifts, and specialty ADLs
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
