Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet patients warmly and efficiently, take vitals, and document history so providers have clear, actionable information
• Prepare patients for exams and procedures, including setting up rooms and necessary equipment
• Obtain 12-lead EKGs and perform venipuncture and blood/lab draws accurately and safely
• Collect, label, and prepare specimens for submission, including coordination with Quest Diagnostics when needed
• Administer immunizations, injections, or oral medications per provider direction
• Explain policies and procedures to patients within scope of practice and support their care journey
• Clean, re-process, and maintain equipment and supplies to meet department standards
• Assist with tracking and monitoring department-specific data to support quality care and operations

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certificate or Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program (required)
• 2+ years experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic or medical office (required)
• Proficiency performing 12-lead EKGs and blood/lab draws including venipuncture (required)
• Experience with pulmonology clinics a strong plus (preferred)
• Experience with CS-Link/Epic and Quest Diagnostics lab submissions (preferred)
• Phlebotomy certification and familiarity with specimen labeling and handling (preferred)
• Comfortable with medical insurance, referral processes, and benefit plan workflows
• BLS certification preferred; strong communication and patient-service skills
• Local candidates only within a 50-minute commute

Education

• Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma (DAPIP-accredited program)

Knowledge & Skills

• Taking and documenting vital signs, height/weight, and pulse oximetry
• 12-lead EKG acquisition and basic ECG knowledge
• Venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, and preparation
• Immunizations and injections administration within scope of practice
• Familiarity with Epic/CS-Link charting and electronic health records
• Understanding of medical terminology and outpatient clinic workflows
• Ability to explain procedures and policies to patients clearly and compassionately
• Clinic logistics: rooming patients, pharmacy/refill calls, and coordinating labs
