Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident status accurately and promptly in the electronic or paper chart
- Support resident comfort and safety by following care plans and reporting changes to the nursing team
- Communicate warmly and clearly with residents and families to promote dignity and emotional well-being
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control protocols and facility procedures
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure timely, person-centered care and smooth shift handoffs
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification (Certified Nursing Assistant) — Maine certification preferred or ability to obtain/transfer
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain, depending on facility requirements
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and health screening per facility policy
- Comfortable working 12.5-hour day shifts and providing hands-on patient care
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven competence in ADLs, transfers, and safe patient handling
- Accurate vital signs measurement and documentation skills
- Knowledge of infection control and standard precautions
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes to nursing staff
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks in a busy clinical setting
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
