Roles & Responsibilities

• Support the RN and surgical team by assisting with limited direct patient care
• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and maintain a strong understanding of each procedure
• Set up, maintain, and protect a sterile field throughout the procedure
• Clean, prepare, and package instruments for disinfection and sterilization
• Assist with room turnover between cases, ensuring a clean and ready environment
• Uphold patient safety standards and maintain required clinical competencies
• Adhere to AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies
• Demonstrate responsibility in time management, resource use, and supply handling
• Participate as a collaborative and supportive team member

Qualifications

• Current BLS/BCLS certification required
• Experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Strong attention to detail and sterile technique
• Willingness to take on-call rotations
• No state license required for this assignment

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment
• Expertise in sterile technique and AORN standards
• Proficiency with Point Click EMR system
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs in real-time
• Time management and organizational skills
