Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $52 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide surgical scrub support for complex CVOR procedures including open heart surgeries (CABG, valve, aneurysm), thoracotomies, VATS, and robotic cases.
First scrub for all cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases, ensuring sterile field and assisting the surgeon.
Cross-train to general OR specialties when CV volumes are low, and float to the floor as a 1:1 sitter to support patient safety.
Participate in on-call rotation, covering weeknights and weekends to ensure 24/7 coverage.
Maintain proficiency with advanced equipment including ECMO, Impella 5.5, and Stryker towers.

Qualifications

Current BLS certification required
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT certification required
North Dakota UAP certification required
Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience with open heart, CABG, valve, and aneurysm cases
Willingness to cross-train to general OR and float to floor as sitter
Must be able to first scrub and respond to call within 15 minutes

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in CVOR surgical techniques and first scrub responsibilities
Experience with open heart, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
Proficiency with robotic surgical systems (ION) and advanced cardiac devices
Strong teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment
Ability to adapt to varying case volumes and assist in other specialties
