Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to a 24-bed unit
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely, following unit policies and protocols
• Support and monitor patients before and after procedures such as thoracentesis and echo
• Occasionally assist with pelvic exams and other specialty procedures as needed
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient care plans
• Maintain safe patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5) and escalate concerns promptly
• Be a team player who helps maintain unit standards and supports peers during busy shifts

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (as listed in the posting)
• Oncology nursing experience or comfort working in oncology/women's surgical settings
• Chemo certification preferred (nice-to-have, candidates with it will be considered first)
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR or willingness to learn quickly
• Ability to work rotating nights and meet weekend coverage expectations

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and chemotherapy care processes
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record documentation
• IV therapy, medication administration, and post-procedure monitoring
• Experience supporting procedures such as thoracentesis and echo
• Comfort assisting with occasional pelvic exams
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and adaptability on med-surg/oncology units
