Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 3x12 (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and Night 3x12 (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM); schedules typically rotate every 2-4 weeks; includes variable/rotating weekends (approximately every 3rd weekend); standby/on-call when not on unit
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based neonatal nursing care for Level 3 and 4 patients, including premature and critically ill neonates
- Serve as charge nurse when assigned: coordinate staffing, make patient assignments, and lead multidisciplinary rounds
- Manage advanced respiratory support (Bubble CPAP, HFNC, ventilators including AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) in collaboration with RTs
- Perform and supervise invasive access and monitoring: UAC/UVC, arterial lines, central line care and blood draws
- Administer and titrate critical medications (IV vasopressors, surfactants, antibiotics) and perform neonatal dosage calculations safely
- Attend high-risk deliveries and provide immediate resuscitation/APGAR assessment and stabilization
- Document thoroughly and efficiently using Epic and participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives
- Educate and support families—provide developmental care guidance, breastfeeding support, and clear discharge teaching
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon or compact RN eligible
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience at Level 3 or Level 4 (charge nurse experience required)
- Current BLS required; NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred
- Proficiency with Epic charting system (required)
- Comfort managing ventilators and advanced neonatal therapies and working with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to float to sister facilities as needed and reliable vehicle for assignment (vehicle required for this role)
- Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, variable weekends, and standby/on-call as outlined
Education
- Active RN license required
- NRP preferred; BLS required
- Associate degree in Nursing or higher (BSN preferred but not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Neonatal nursing expertise (Level 3/4)
- Charge nurse duties and unit leadership
- Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) and HFOV collaboration with RTs
- Bubble CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- IV therapy, central line care, arterial line management, UAC/UVC management
- Neonatal dosage calculations, IV vasopressors, antibiotics/antivirals, surfactants, steroids
- APGAR scoring, resuscitation skills, and attendance at high-risk deliveries
- Phototherapy, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia care
- Feeding tube placement/management and breastfeeding support
- Phlebotomy, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, isolation precautions, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome care
- Epic electronic charting and strong family teaching/communication skills
