Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients continuously and deliver skilled nursing care using the nursing process to improve outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely, monitor responses, and adjust care as needed
• Lead and coordinate the PCU team, delegate tasks, and mentor support staff to ensure excellent care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, evaluate, and revise individualized treatment plans
• Respond quickly to alarms and urgent changes in condition to promote patient safety
• Assist with transfers and mobility needs while prioritizing dignity and comfort
• Provide patient and family education to empower recovery and informed decision-making
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations

Qualifications

• Active Michigan (MI) nursing license (LARA and/or Nursys) — required
• 2+ years of Neuro PCU experience — required
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications — required
• PCU skills checklist current within 1 year — required
• Recent travel work history — highly preferred
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years — required
• Comfort working 12-hour night shifts and following facility scheduling policies

• Delivering evidence-based treatments and evaluating effectiveness

• Transfers, mobility assistance, and fall-prevention techniques

• Interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve patient-centered goals
