Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Days 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or Nights 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; includes holiday coverage and every 3rd weekend rotation. Part-time options available with the same day or night shift windows. Weekend package option: 4 consecutive weekends, Days 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (72-hour weekend structure) with every 5th weekend off.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using the nursing process to make a measurable difference daily
• Assess, monitor and document patient condition promptly and accurately to ensure safe, effective care
• Implement infection prevention and patient safety practices to protect patients and colleagues
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and consult specialty resources to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families with clear, compassionate instructions to support recovery and self-care
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation as a legal and clinical record of care
• Participate in professional development, share knowledge with peers, and contribute to a learning culture

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN must be obtained within 12 years of hire)
• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa (Compact allowed where applicable)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Experience or comfort working with medical-surgical patient populations (post-op, cardiac cath, stroke, CHF, dialysis, pneumonia) is highly desirable
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays as required
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
• BSN required to be obtained within 12 years of hire

Knowledge & Skills

• Nursing process and clinical decision-making
• Patient assessment and monitoring across a variety of adult medical-surgical conditions
• Accurate clinical documentation practices
• Infection prevention and patient-safety protocols
• Medical-surgical nursing skills and familiarity with post-op, cardiac, stroke, CHF and dialysis care
• Team collaboration, patient education and crisis/resource consultation
