Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care for obstetric and neonatal patients
• Monitor and interpret fetal strips and electronic fetal monitoring to guide safe clinical decisions
• Safely titrate and manage infusions such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate and insulin per unit protocols
• Deliver couplet care and manage 1:1 assignments for high-acuity patients per AWHONN guidelines
• Assess patients continuously and escalate concerns to OB/Neonatology, anesthesia or providers when needed
• Float to MedSurg and ER as required, applying broad nursing skills with adaptability and professionalism
• Collaborate with charge nurses, CNAs and the interdisciplinary team to support flow and patient safety
• Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech and use Philips/TraceView telemetry effectively

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in North Dakota)
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience (L&D experience strongly preferred)
• Required: BLS certification; Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (IFM) / electronic fetal monitoring competency
• Preferred: ACLS, NRP, STABLE certifications
• Comfort and demonstrated ability to read and interpret fetal strips independently
• Experience titrating obstetric infusions (Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin) and following AWHONN ratios
• Previous travel nurse experience is a plus; able to meet radius rule and RTO requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN preferred but not required
• Unit-specific orientation provided; ongoing competency validation expected

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in fetal monitoring and fetal strip interpretation (TraceView/PIP experience helpful)
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills in acute obstetric/neonatal settings
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR and Philips telemetry/monitoring systems
• Skill in titration of drips and managing set-rate infusions safely
• Ability to provide couplet care and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced unit
• Comfort floating to MedSurg and ER and adapting to different patient populations
