Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, high-acuity bedside care for ICU patients, including post-CABG and transplant cases
• Manage mechanical ventilation and perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Respond rapidly and effectively to emergent events using ACLS and BLS protocols
• Collaborate with intensivists, surgeons, respiratory therapy and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Maintain clear, accurate documentation in Meditech and perform bedside shift reports with whiteboard updates
• Support unit goals for quality, safety and patient experience on a Magnet-recognized ICU
• Adhere to unit guidelines, dress code and professional standards while mentoring peers when appropriate

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN License required (temporary license will not be accepted)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience (CVICU or cardiac ICU experience preferred)
• Proven experience with mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring and post-CABG care
• Experience with ECMO, heart transplant, CABG or advanced cardiac cases is a strong plus
• Meditech documentation experience preferred
• Strong bedside assessment, communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN; BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU nursing and critical care assessment
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting invasive lines
• Mechanical ventilation management
• Post-CABG and cardiac surgical care
• ECMO exposure and CVICU workflows
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic documentation
• CPR, BLS and ACLS skills
• Familiarity with care pathways for transplant and high-acuity cardiac patients
