Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform a variety of nursing care procedures for patients of all ages, ensuring safe and therapeutic care
• Conduct thorough nursing assessments through interviewing, observation, and the nursing process
• Identify patient problems and nursing diagnoses, and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and therapeutics accurately, following age-specific guidelines
• Educate patients and families about tests, procedures, disease processes, and discharge instructions
• Delegate and supervise CNA/Tech staff, ensuring proper task completion
• Respond calmly and make sound nursing judgments in emergency situations
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to infection control measures

Qualifications

• Current, full, and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska (must have at time of submission)
• BLS and PALS certifications required upon hire; ACLS must be obtained within 6 months
• One year of clinical nurse experience preferred; previous emergency room experience preferred
• Must obtain flu vaccination prior to start

Education

• Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for RN licensure in Alaska

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of nursing care principles, practices, and processes (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Ability to recognize emergent conditions and adverse signs and symptoms, and act promptly
• Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their effects, and potential complications
• Proficiency in using basic medical equipment (defibrillator, monitors, etc.) and emergency procedures
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to provide guidance, leadership, and work collaboratively with healthcare team members
