Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health and substance abuse assessments to inform individualized care
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for individuals in the substance abuse treatment setting
• Deliver individual and group therapy using proven modalities to support recovery
• Perform risk assessments and crisis intervention to maintain safety and stability
• Document clinical encounters clearly and timely to support continuity of care and compliance
• Collaborate with custody staff, medical providers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment
• Provide clinical consultation and participate in treatment team meetings to improve outcomes
• Support training and mentoring for junior clinicians or trainees during onboarding and beyond

Qualifications

• For Psychologist: Doctoral degree in Psychology and active California psychologist license (PSY)
• For LCSW: Master of Social Work and active California LCSW license
• Experience with mental health and substance abuse treatment, preferably in correctional or forensic settings
• Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with treatment planning
• Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility credentialing standards
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse populations

Education

• Doctoral degree in Psychology (for Psychologist positions)
• Master of Social Work (MSW) (for LCSW positions)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in substance abuse treatment approaches and relapse prevention strategies
• Proficient with individual and group therapy techniques
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and evidence-based psychotherapies
• Strong assessment skills, including suicide and risk assessment
• Comfortable working within correctional facility policies and multidisciplinary teams
• Culturally responsive practice and strong professional boundaries
