Physical Therapist - School

Location: Deming, NM

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM Day shift (aligned with the school calendar; consistent weekday schedule, no weekends or holidays)

Hours per Week: 37.5

Candidate Pay Rate: $75 - $52.5 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for students to identify needs and measure progress
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP goals
Provide direct therapy services focusing on mobility, balance, strength, coordination, and functional access
Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications to support student participation
Participate in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions to advocate for student needs
Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines
Educate school staff and caregivers on safe mobility, positioning, and transfer techniques to promote continuity of care

Qualifications

Active New Mexico Physical Therapist license
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program
Current CPR/BLS certification
Pediatric or school-based experience preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage and prioritize a student caseload independently

Education

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

Skilled in pediatric physical therapy assessments and interventions
Experience collaborating with teachers, special education staff, and families
Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation requirements
Proficient in recommending and fitting assistive devices and environmental modifications
Strong clinical documentation and caseload management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication with interdisciplinary teams
