Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patient mobility, strength, and functional needs to build effective treatment plans
• Design and implement individualized therapy programs focused on functional outcomes and safety
• Provide hands-on interventions, therapeutic exercises and education to patients and their care teams
• Document progress and outcomes thoroughly and timely to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with nursing, mental health, custody staff and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Participate in orientation and training activities to maintain high standards and compliance

Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in California or ability to obtain before start
• Active BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Experience delivering patient-centered physical therapy in an institutional or acute/rehab setting preferred
• Comfort working within a correctional facility environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation and communication skills

Education

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred or equivalent degree in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in musculoskeletal and functional mobility assessment
• Proficient with therapeutic exercise prescription and manual therapy techniques
• Knowledgeable about safety, fall prevention and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Ability to create measurable treatment goals and track patient outcomes
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration
• Competent documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting best practices
