Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during exams and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment, following strict infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays and intraoral images as directed
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, including braces and aligner maintenance
- Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment plans
- Manage appointment scheduling and patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification or license as required by Maryland state regulations
- X-ray certification (Radiology Health and Safety) or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in orthodontics or dental assisting preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology and orthodontic procedures
- Proficiency with dental practice management software (e.g., Denticon)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail and commitment to infection control standards
