Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during exams and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment, following strict infection control protocols
• Take and develop dental X-rays and intraoral images as directed
• Educate patients on orthodontic care, including braces and aligner maintenance
• Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment plans
• Manage appointment scheduling and patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations

Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant certification or license as required by Maryland state regulations
• X-ray certification (Radiology Health and Safety) or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in orthodontics or dental assisting preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental terminology and orthodontic procedures
• Proficiency with dental practice management software (e.g., Denticon)
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Attention to detail and commitment to infection control standards
