Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery
• Monitor vital signs, EKG strips, and level of consciousness closely
• Manage acute recovery for total joint, general, robotic, neuro, and urology patients
• Collaborate with charge nurses, hospitalists, and the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on post-op care and discharge instructions
• Respond to call shifts within 30 minutes for emergency coverage

Qualifications

• Current and active RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of acute recovery or PACU experience
• Ability to interpret telemetry and EKG strips confidently
• Cerner EMR experience is a plus
• No prior direct employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• In-depth knowledge of PACU ratios and patient monitoring
• Comfortable caring for daVinci, neuro, urology, and orthopedic surgeries
• Proficient with Cerner charting system
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Able to adapt in a fast-paced, changing patient census
