Shift Type: Night shift, 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM, 12-hour blocks; weekend and holiday requirements, call rotation

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide expert, compassionate care to Level II NICU patients and well newborns in a cozy 6-bed unit (expandable to 8)
  • Attend deliveries and provide immediate neonatal stabilization and assessment
  • Manage couplet care assignments, caring for postpartum moms and their babies together up to a 1:3 ratio per AWHONN standards
  • Collaborate with NNPs (available 24/7) and neonatologists via telehealth
  • Utilize EPIC charting to document care meticulously and accurately
  • Float as a helping hand to other departments per hospital policy, ensuring safety and teamwork
  • Titrate basic IV fluids like TPN and dextrose, and arrange timely transport for complex cases to tertiary centers
  • Serve as a resource for LDRP staff, supporting deliveries and newborn care

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Colorado (or compact license - we'll help you get there!)
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU or related experience
  • Current BLS (AHA), NRP, and STABLE certifications
  • Comfort with EPIC charting and a Level II NICU environment
  • Ability to care for postpartum moms and babies as a couplet, up to 1:3 ratio per AWHONN standards
  • Willingness to attend deliveries and support the LDRP team

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of AWHONN acuity standards and couplet care
  • Knowledge of common neonatal diagnoses: TTN, RDS, feeder growers, hyperbilirubinemia, hypoglycemia
  • Skill in neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
  • Familiarity with vents, BCPAP, and HHFNC respiratory support equipment
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with NNPs, neonatologists, and the care team
  • Ability to adapt to a small, close-knit unit with high autonomy
