Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during procedures, including bracket placement, banding, and adjustments
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms to ensure a safe environment
• Take and process dental X-rays and impressions with precision
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care
• Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment charts
• Manage inventory and supplies to keep the office running smoothly
• Provide compassionate, attentive care to patients of all ages

Qualifications

• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or completion of an accredited dental assisting program
• Valid Maryland dental radiography certification
• Experience in orthodontics is highly preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Excellent communication and patient-centered attitude
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced orthodontic setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and procedures
• Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Denticon
• Understanding of sterilization techniques and infection control standards
• Skill in taking digital X-rays and dental impressions
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients and families
• Organizational skills and attention to detail
