Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct one-time, non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and empathy
• Perform thorough patient interviews to capture history and functional impact
• Carry out focused physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Document clear, timely medical reports and submit required documentation and any addendums
• Provide concise medical opinions and complete administrative follow-up as required
• Collaborate with VES team members to ensure accurate, consistent evaluations for Veterans

Qualifications

• Current, active NP licensure (or equivalent advanced practice licensure) and ability to practice in Utah or within the 50-mile service radius
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
• Experience with Compensation & Pension exams or similar medico-legal/functional assessments is strongly preferred
• Comfort performing focused physical exams (range of motion, muscle strength testing) and conducting detailed patient interviews
• Reliable access to a private office (for provider-owned-office coverage) or ability to work at a VES facility within a 50-mile radius
• Strong medical documentation skills and attention to detail for timely reports and occasional addendums

Education

• Master’s degree (MSN) or equivalent NP certification/credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and focused physical exam techniques
• Structured patient interviewing and history-taking
• Range of motion testing and muscle strength assessment
• Clear, organized medical documentation and report writing
• Ability to produce medical opinions and perform administrative follow-up
• Comfort reading diagnostics and integrating findings into reports
• Professionalism in medicolegal and non-treatment exam settings
