Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals in a correctional mental health setting
• Monitor, assess, and document patient behaviors, responses, and progress during your shift
• Assist with implementing treatment plans and therapeutic activities as directed
• Communicate changes in patient status clearly to the clinical team and document accordingly
• Support safe, secure operations by collaborating with custody staff and following facility protocols
• Participate fully in the one-week orientation to ensure safe, effective practice at HDSP

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license — California preferred
• Available for the posted schedule: Sun, Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, 1:45 PM - 10:15 PM
• Available for a one-week orientation Mon-Fri, 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM
• Comfortable working in a correctional healthcare environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Completion of an approved Psychiatric Technician training program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong observational and documentation skills for clinical reporting
• De-escalation and crisis intervention techniques appropriate for psychiatric settings
• Basic patient care skills and familiarity with therapeutic activities
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow facility policies, safety protocols, and supervision directions
