Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy services as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to veterans residing at the Montana Veterans Home
• Implement treatment plans and meaningful therapeutic activities that improve daily living skills and independence
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient-centered care plans
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in the facility charting system
• Educate residents, families, and staff on adaptive strategies, assistive devices, and safety techniques
• Support discharge planning and continuity of care with clear communication and recommendations

Qualifications

• Current COTA certification and active state licensure or ability to obtain Montana licensure
• Experience working in geriatric, long-term care, or skilled nursing settings preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning and ability to implement evidence-based interventions
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements
• Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of adaptive equipment, activities of daily living (ADL) training, and mobility techniques
• Skilled in documentation and clinical charting for long-term care populations
• Ability to assess functional status and recommend appropriate therapeutic interventions
• Comfort working with older adults and veterans with complex medical histories
• Strong time management and organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation
