Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing and grooming with dignity and compassion
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and lift assistance when needed
- Monitor residents and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of care and resident observations
- Help create a warm, social environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to maintain a safe care environment
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing or geriatric settings preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass facility background and health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful approach to elder care
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care
- Familiarity with basic infection control and safety procedures
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to follow directions and escalate concerns appropriately
