Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses during EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, EUS, and flexible sigmoidoscopies by anticipating needs and passing instruments promptly
• Prepare and position patients for procedures under RN or physician supervision, ensuring comfort and safety
• Set up and test endoscopy towers, scopes, light sources, suction, video processors, and monitors before each case
• Handle biopsy forceps, snares, injection needles, retrieval devices, and other GI instruments with care and precision
• Maintain infection control standards by ensuring instruments and equipment are properly cleaned and sterilized
• Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and report maintenance needs quickly to minimize procedure delays
• Keep procedure areas stocked and organized so teams can focus on patient care

Qualifications

• Previous experience in endoscopy, GI instrumentation, or a surgical/procedural setting preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred; facility-specific requirements will be discussed during interview
• Familiarity with handling biopsy forceps, snares, injection needles, and retrieval devices
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in fast-paced procedural environments
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with physicians, nurses, and support staff
• Ability to follow infection control protocols and maintain equipment sterility

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Postsecondary certificate in Endoscopy Technology, Surgical Technology, or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Procedure readiness and intra-procedure support
• Endoscopy equipment setup, testing, and basic troubleshooting
• GI instrumentation knowledge including biopsy forceps and snares
• Infection control and sterilization practices
• Patient positioning and basic peri-procedural patient care
• Attention to detail and strong situational awareness in procedure suites
