Roles & Responsibilities

• Review, interpret, and dispense medications accurately to promote the best outcomes for patients
• Provide expert drug information and counseling to patients, medical staff, and nursing staff
• Perform clinical interventions and monitor therapies, documenting actions to support safe, effective care
• Utilize CPOE and automated dispensing systems to streamline medication workflows
• Oversee and direct ancillary pharmacy staff, verifying their work to maintain high standards
• Maintain compliance with California Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA regulations
• Attend code blue events when on duty and contribute to patient safety
• Conduct medication regimen reviews and support continuous quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current California Pharmacy License (must be active)
• Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
• Minimum of 1-2 years of pharmacy experience
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
• Comfortable working across outpatient, skilled nursing, and inpatient pharmacy settings

Education

• Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication dispensing and compounding
• CPOE and automated dispensing units (e.g., PYXIS)
• IV laminar flow hood operations
• Therapeutic drug monitoring and renal function calculations
• Patient counseling and drug information
• Knowledge of California Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA regulations
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills
• Additional languages preferred
