Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; also 8-hour shifts 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM; self-scheduling with every other weekend and holiday

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to adolescents and adults on a locked psychiatric unit
• Build trust with patients experiencing depression, anxiety, substance use, and other behavioral health challenges
• Collaborate with mental health techs, occupational therapists, and social workers to support holistic treatment plans
• Respond to emergencies using de-escalation techniques and assist with safety protocols including seclusion and rare mechanical restraints
• Conduct 15-minute safety rounds and stay actively engaged in patient care rather than desk-bound tasks
• Float throughout the hospital as needed to support 1:1 observations or additional staffing needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Dakota or compact license
• BLS certification required; CPI preferred
• Acute or inpatient psychiatric experience strongly preferred
• Strong de-escalation and communication skills
• First-time travelers welcome; adolescent experience a plus
• Patience and calm demeanor under pressure

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of common psychiatric diagnoses including depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders
• Ability to work with both adolescent and adult populations on the same shift
• Comfort with a locked unit environment and emergency response protocols
• Team-oriented approach with willingness to assist with patient care tasks and safety rounds
