Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients recovering from anesthesia in the PACU
• Monitor vital signs, airway patency, and level of consciousness during the post-operative period
• Assess and manage pain, nausea, and other common post-anesthesia complications
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the care team to ensure smooth recovery
• Educate and support patients and their families with clear, compassionate communication
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in the electronic health record
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition or emergency situations

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license in Ohio (or a compact state, if applicable)
• BLS and PALS certification required
• Prior experience in PACU, pediatric critical care, or perioperative nursing is strongly preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment
• A genuine passion for caring for children and their families

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric anesthesia recovery protocols and post-operative care standards
• Comfortable with airway management, oxygen therapy, and monitoring equipment
• Excellent communication skills to connect with children, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation
