Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery and procedures
• Monitor vital signs, airway, and level of consciousness as patients emerge from anesthesia
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the care team to ensure smooth recoveries
• Assess patients for complications and respond quickly to changes in condition
• Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, detailed documentation for every patient interaction

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association)
• ACLS certification preferred
• Previous PACU, critical care, or acute care experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) protocols and patient monitoring
• Comfort with cardiac monitoring, airway management, and pain management
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with patients, families, and the care team
• Ability to stay calm and act quickly in high-pressure situations
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills
