Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort throughout
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and operatories between patients to maintain a safe, hygienic environment
- Take and process dental X-rays as directed, following all safety protocols
- Educate patients and families on orthodontic care, including proper use of braces and aligners
- Maintain accurate patient records and support appointment scheduling
- Partner with the front office team to provide a smooth, welcoming patient experience
Qualifications
- Maryland Dental Assistant certification or the ability to obtain before start
- Current X-ray certification preferred (Radiology Health and Safety)
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Prior experience as a dental assistant, ideally in orthodontics
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental and orthodontic instruments and terminology
- Familiarity with infection control and OSHA standards
- Skill in using dental software for patient records
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong patient-focused attitude with a gentle touch
