Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort throughout
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and operatories between patients to maintain a safe, hygienic environment
• Take and process dental X-rays as directed, following all safety protocols
• Educate patients and families on orthodontic care, including proper use of braces and aligners
• Maintain accurate patient records and support appointment scheduling
• Partner with the front office team to provide a smooth, welcoming patient experience

Qualifications

• Maryland Dental Assistant certification or the ability to obtain before start
• Current X-ray certification preferred (Radiology Health and Safety)
• BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
• Prior experience as a dental assistant, ideally in orthodontics
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental and orthodontic instruments and terminology
• Familiarity with infection control and OSHA standards
• Skill in using dental software for patient records
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Strong patient-focused attitude with a gentle touch
