Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor fetal heart rates, contractions, and maternal vital signs to ensure safe outcomes
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and emergency procedures as needed
• Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the care team to develop and implement care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification preferred
• Previous labor and delivery or maternal-child experience preferred
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient needs and unit dynamics

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of fetal monitoring and maternal health protocols
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Calm, focused approach in high-stress situations
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
