Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess laboring patients, tracking vital signs and fetal heart patterns to ensure safe deliveries
• Provide compassionate support and education to mothers and families during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Assist obstetricians and midwives during deliveries and emergency C-sections
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and pain management interventions as ordered
• Document patient progress accurately and communicate effectively with the healthcare team
• Advocate for patient preferences and promote a calm, respectful birthing environment

Qualifications

• Current and active RN license in Louisiana (or compact state) required
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• NRP certification required or ability to obtain prior to start
• Previous L&D or maternal-child nursing experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical rotations encouraged to apply
• Ability to respond quickly and calmly in high-pressure situations

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of fetal monitoring and obstetric emergencies
• Skilled in electronic medical records (EMR) documentation
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced maternity unit
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
