Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to mothers and newborns during labor and delivery
• Monitor maternal and fetal vitals, identifying and responding to changes promptly
• Assist with deliveries and provide support during emergency situations
• Educate patients and families on labor, postpartum care, and newborn care
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe, positive birth experiences
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation throughout the patient care journey

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
• Current BLS certification required
• NRP certification preferred
• Prior Labor and Delivery experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work flexible, per diem shifts based on unit needs
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of labor and delivery nursing practices and protocols
• Skill in fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Comfort with electronic health records (EHR) documentation
• Ability to stay calm and effective in high-pressure situations
• Patient and family education skills
• Team collaboration and adaptability
