Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist with examinations, adjustments, and orthodontic procedures
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatory rooms to ensure a safe environment
• Take and process dental X-rays, photos, and impressions as directed
• Educate patients on braces care, oral hygiene, and treatment plans
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with chairside documentation
• Support the front desk and clinical team to keep the day running smoothly

Qualifications

• Current dental assistant certification or registration in Maryland
• Radiology/X-ray safety certification or willingness to obtain it
• Prior orthodontic or dental assisting experience preferred
• CPR/BLS certification is a plus
• A warm, approachable chairside manner and genuine care for patients

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, brackets, and wires
• Understanding of infection control and sterilization standards
• Ability to take high-quality dental radiographs
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
