Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a 19-bed mixed ICU, focusing on neuro, medical, trauma, vascular and cardiothoracic patients
- Manage and monitor EBD drains and neuro-specific interventions with precision and attention to detail
- Float as needed between ICU and PMCU (step-down unit with a 3:1 ratio) to ensure seamless patient transitions
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Perform thorough assessments, recognize clinical changes early, and escalate care appropriately
- Document care accurately in Epic and support charting standards to maintain continuity and quality
Qualifications
- Current CA RN license (required)
- At least 2 years of RN experience
- Recent Epic experience within the last year (required to pass the Epic pre-assessment)
- Neuro experience with demonstrated competency in managing EBD drains
- ICU experience and comfort working with a mix of neuro, trauma, vascular and CT patients
- Willingness to float between ICU and PMCU; TNCC preferred for trauma experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with Epic and timely, accurate electronic documentation
- Strong neurocritical care knowledge and drain management skills
- Critical thinking and rapid assessment in high-acuity settings
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced ICU environment and work as part of a care team
- Familiarity with step-down/PMCU workflows and 3:1 patient ratios
- Trauma awareness and vascular/CT patient care knowledge
