Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during exams and procedures to ensure seamless patient care
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms for each appointment
• Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed
• Educate patients on orthodontic care, hygiene, and post-treatment instructions
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with treatment planning
• Support the team with chairside assistance and patient flow management

Qualifications

• Certified or registered Dental Assistant with current Maryland credentials
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Experience in orthodontic assisting is a plus
• Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and maintaining radiograph equipment
• Strong communication skills and a patient-first mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, and terminology
• Familiarity with dental practice management software
• Understanding of infection control and OSHA standards
• Skill in taking impressions, digital scans, and intraoral photos
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
