Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize orthodontic instruments and treatment rooms to ensure every patient is safe and comfortable
- Assist the orthodontist during braces adjustments, bracket placements, and other orthodontic procedures
- Take and process dental X-rays and images with precision and care
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and orthodontic care, helping them smile with confidence
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage lab communication to keep the practice running smoothly
- Anticipate the orthodontist's needs to create an efficient and welcoming clinic experience
Qualifications
- Valid Maryland Dental Assistant certification or licensure (or ability to obtain)
- Radiology/X-ray certification as required by the state
- Experience in orthodontic assisting preferred
- Strong commitment to infection control and patient safety
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a dedicated dental team
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and procedures
- Proficiency with dental practice management software (Denticon experience is a plus)
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines
- Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting
