Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist oral surgeons during wisdom tooth extractions, ensuring a smooth and efficient procedure flow
- Monitor patients' vital signs (blood pressure and pulse oximetry) throughout surgery and recovery
- Administer and monitor nitrous oxide and IV sedation under the oral surgeon's direction to keep patients comfortable
- Capture high-quality panoramic X-rays to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and operatory rooms, maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Provide compassionate patient care and clear post-operative instructions to promote healing
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or relevant state certification preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Hands-on experience with IV sedation and nitrous oxide monitoring
- Radiology certification and experience taking panoramic X-rays
- Previous oral surgery or surgical dental assisting experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in taking and interpreting vital signs (BP/PulseO2)
- Knowledgeable about nitrous oxide and IV sedation protocols
- Skilled in panoramic radiography
- Understanding of wisdom tooth surgery procedures and instrumentation
- Strong patient communication and comfort techniques
- Knowledge of sterilization and infection control standards
