Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Prepare the OR and surgical instrumentation, ensuring sterile technique is maintained
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team for seamless procedures
• Perform surgical counts and adhere to infection control protocols to protect patients
• Advocate for patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Document care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Support and mentor peers and new staff to foster a cohesive team environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of assignment (or compact RN as applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) highly desired but not required
• Prior operating room/perioperative nursing experience (preferred)
• Strong communication, teamwork, and ability to work in fast-paced surgical settings
• Ability to pass required background checks and credentialing in a timely manner

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or diploma in nursing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or equivalent clinical experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic and sterile technique expertise
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, supplies, and OR workflows
• Proficient patient assessment and perioperative monitoring skills
• Experience with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking under pressure
• Knowledge of infection control standards and surgical safety protocols
