Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability
• Guide patients toward their maximum performance and level of functioning while helping them live confidently within their capabilities
• Observe and evaluate treatment effects, recommending changes to the physician when needed
• Perform thorough evaluations, assessments and reassessments for pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general patient populations
• Assess patient pain that interferes with optimal function and connect with physicians for appropriate intervention
• Build individualized teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate how well learning is taking shape, including family members as appropriate
• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity while addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious or spiritual needs
• Manage and operate equipment safely while keeping the department clean and safe
• Partner with patients and families in forming the plan of care with clear, compassionate communication
• Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure needs are met and hospital policy is followed
• Collaborate with other departments to support patient care and performance improvement activities
• Direct Occupational Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides and Mobility Technicians, certification applicants, and OT or OTA students
• Maintain accurate personnel and department operation records while meeting current clinical documentation standards
• Support orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members
• Ensure patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis

Qualifications

• BLS Certification required
• Licensed Occupational Therapist with New Hampshire eligibility required
• Graduate from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy or equivalent required
• Experience providing Occupational Therapy in the outpatient setting strongly preferred
• Comfort treating pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients as part of the general patient population
• A team player who communicates clearly with physicians, staff and the administrative team

Education

• Licensed Occupational Therapist with NH eligibility. - Required.
• Graduate from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy or equivalent. - Required.
• Experience in providing Occupational Therapy within the outpatient setting. - Strongly Preferred.
